1. Read through the words listed in Ex1 and make sure that students understand the meaning of them.

2. Ask students to look at the four pictures in Ex2 and give their own advice, so that they can get familiar with the listening passage.

3. Ask students to listen to the tape, try to get the instructions and check them with what they have listed.

第三步 听力训练(二)

Listening (Page73)

1. The main content of this listening passage is Rescue breathing. Show students the picture and ask:

(1) What should you do if you find a person who has stopped breathing?

(start his breath at once)

(2) What do you think is the best thing to do to make a person breathe again when he cannot breathe?

(mouth-to-mouth way)

(3) What should be paid attention to when carrying out breathing rescue? Look at the pictures on Page73, can you see what is happening in each picture? Have a discussion with your partners, using the following words to help you.

unconscious, to bend, to tilt, to roll, chest, tongue, airway, pulse, airway, neck

2. Listen to the tape and number the pictures.

3. Listen to the tape again and take notes using ellipsis.

Sample answer:

1) Check whether unconscious.

2) Put into recovery position.

3) Check and clear airway.

4) Check for breathing.

5) Blow into mouth.

6) Check pulse.

7) Continue rescue breathing at 15 breaths a minute.

8) When breathing again, put in recovery position.

9) Ask students to act out in pairs.
